As part of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)'s World Food Day 2026 celebrations, the World Food Day 2026 Youth Innovation Challenge is being organized under the global theme, "Innovate Today. Nourish Tomorrow." The initiative is being implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education and Hatton National Bank PLC (HNB) along with national partners and technical collaborators, and aims to inspire university students to develop innovative solutions to strengthen Sri Lanka's agrifood systems.

Please find attached the following documents for dissemination among your students:

The competition poster includes a QR code linking to the online Registration Form, which students are requested to complete by 20 July 2026. We have also dispatched printed posters to your university and would be grateful if you could kindly ensure they are displayed prominently in areas with high student traffic to maximize awareness.

The completed Submission Template should be submitted to FAOLK-Media@fao.org by 31 July 2026. The Guidance Note outlines the eligibility criteria, challenge statements, competition process, and other important information for prospective applicants.

A short video introducing the challenge and encouraging student participation is also available here should you wish to share it through your university's communication channels.

We sincerely appreciate your continued partnership and support in encouraging students to participate in this exciting national initiative.
