WORKSHOP ON BENEFICIAL MICROORGANISMS THEME Microorganisms and Food Safety: Endophytic fungi for sustainable agriculture and food security

We are pleased to inform you that the Department of Bioprocess Technology, Faculty of Technology, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, in collaboration with our research partners at Cameroon University, is organizing a workshop titled "Microorganisms and Food Safety: Biological Tools in Response to Sustainable Development Goals" along with a Cultural Food Festival as an outreach activity. This event will be held on November 11, 2024, from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Main Auditorium, Divisional Secretariat, Mihintale.

The workshop will focus on the intersection of microorganisms and food safety in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. We are inviting 10 students from each of the following faculties: Faculty of Technology, Faculty of Applied Sciences, and Faculty of Agriculture to participate in the workshop. The Cultural Food Festival, which is open to all volunteers from Rajarata University, will showcase traditional food items and culinary creativity.

In recognition of outstanding contributions, four awards will be presented at the festival: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes, along with a People’s Choice Award for the best food item. Winners will receive certificates and other accolades. Additionally, all participants will be given a Letter of Appreciation for their involvement.

We kindly request your support in sharing this information with students from the respective faculties and encouraging them to register by Saturday evening, as registration will close at 9:00 PM on November 9, 2024.
